RBI asks banks to install fake currency detection machines at branches along international borders

The Reserve Bank of India has directed banks to enhance counterfeit note detection. Branches near international borders must now have note authentication machines. All cash handling staff will receive training on security features by October 2026. Banks must analyze fake note data to identify trends and hotspots. This initiative aims to strengthen the identification and reporting of fake currency notes.
